Pickpad, a Chicago-based startup, is tackling the chaos of takeout with its innovative "smart pad" system. Displayed at CES 2025, these modular devices help restaurants manage orders by automatically linking customer names with their takeout items.
The platform connects to a restaurant’s P.O.S. system, ensuring accurate order pickup. Currently piloted in a Chicago café, Pickpad charges a subscription fee of $9 to $19 per month, including support and software.
While production costs remain high, the company plans to scale, aiming to introduce automated shelving for easier order organization. Pickpad's solution offers efficiency, accuracy, and less waste in the fast-paced food service industry.
